When you have friends, everybody accepts
And never say they don't know what to expect
But when friends are out and down for the count
The things people don't know, makes tension mount
And rather than taking the time needed to get to know
They will run away fairly quickly - on to another show
Some other place, some other people, some other chat
Just because they don't wish to understand all of that
So they run and hide onto the comfort of those others
Never really dealing with the fact they're under covers
Because plain speaking is something they can't handle
Would rather talk about weather, kids, music, lit candles
Instead of the things which mull around in their brains
The things which, when dealt with, would lessen pain
Those knots which they have tied deep down in the gut
Which make them hide behind all those doors they shut
Instead of opening them up and showing the very core
Which makes them tick, and the qualities which assure
They are real people, and not pretensions or shadows
Just deep-down good honest people who're quite mellow
