Lost in a Desert of Abandon

Desertion brings about feelings of loss
As heart spins, becoming without gloss
For valves which closed off afterwards
Then work to stay pumping, extra hard

As hope springs eternal from an oasis
And mirages itself upon sands undressed
As wells of unspent desire brim over edge
Of a heart overworked, lost, out on a ledge

And warmth which seeps through veins full
Engorges muscles as heart beats louder still
For precious water mixes with lust of desire
Boiling, as attempts are made to put out fire
