Love's Surprise

As one door closes, yet another one opens
But the surprise is, it comes in the moping
As mind grapples with all that went wrong
Heart attempts to deal with it in sad songs

When we love too much, inevitably, it crumbles
As our hearts tear, for bodies no longer tumble
And then love lost becomes a larger platform
Upon which we drift with our memories torn

Wondering if we will ever again feel that closeness
Which drove us so, as we shared with abandon blessed
For the beautiful feelings saturated minds and spirits
As we immersed ourseves in the lovemaking with wit

Playing tenderly with each other's bodies hour after hour
The beauty we each were to the other gave us much power
And as we became bonded in our hearts, building the tower
Showering ourselves with hot fluids from each other's flower

We knew no bounds of time, or even any space dimension
As time and time again, the releases dissolved all tension
And then you finally stopped and came up for some air
But you held it tight in a smile, as I held your face and hair

I wanted you to let me know then how much you cared
But all there was from you was a kind of a blank stare
And the power I'd felt just a few short moments before
Ebbed away - for you'd closed me down, leaving me sore
