Drowning in Love
Love's intense emotions fill heart and mind
As we share what we feel with eyes so blind
Staring back at us from empty faces devoid
Of passion sensed once, and thence to avoid
The connection which burned souls over months
As bodies entwined, and spirits lifted from dumps
Which seeped down in groundwater slowly trickling
As ice and snow melted in a sun - no longer tickling
And the warmth and the passion which burned embers
Are now just memories of tunes only half-remembered
As love which so scorched in flames hot with intensity
Now have subsided, and no longer hold their true density
For water swelling from ground sores now trickles away
As the drowning which was, ebbed, and has now gone astray
And the bobbing of heads above the calm surface's ripples
Float along on a tide slowly easing - beyond the trickles ....
