The Dog's a Blessing
There are days when she won't ever leave me alone
Wanting so much attention, I can't get things done
And every press on the keyboard or on my mouse
Is interfered with, as paws pull hands away and rouse
- Me to a greater excited state, causing me to err
All because she wants me to pet and cuddle her
Or, perhaps it's because she thinks I've neglected
Her feed - which is first on the agenda expected
But when I don't also see to my own breakfast
Then she avoids hers - as she likes to have repast
Only at the same time as mine, no matter how late
And then we share something in a much higher state
Of acceptance of each other's quite communal needs
Which are ongoing, like her twice daily runs thru trees
And so we support each other's requirements of life
Even though at times - she does give me a little strife
