On the Crest of the Hill

When we got to the top
I looked around at you
You were straddling behind
And not giving me any mind

For I called at you quite loud to come
I think you're trying to give me some
- Piece of your mind, as when you dally
It often says something else, for you rally

When I feed you well, and come abounding
But lately, there is something else sounding
- Out a call for help, for you think I'm neglecting
But it just isn't so - there's something else perplexing

Please talk to me and let me know what it is you want
For I stand on the crest of the hill, and look askance
At the animal who's been my best friend now for years
And only now ... you have me worried so - I'm in tears

- Tristram
