Park-time ... tossed the ball

Hit the curb, then bounced tall
Dog jumped up, caught in teeth
Snatched out of air, so pleased

- Was she to have made it so high
Wish I'd taken a picture, with a sigh
Ran over to pick it up where dropped
She looked so proud, so then I stopped

Let her have just a few moments to gloat
Wanted to let her continue to feel her oats
Then she ran off, leaving the ball on grass
So I went to grab it, once she had passed

Picked it up as she then wandered downhill
Becoming covered in burrs, some there still
Now she's out on the chain, maybe she's sick
From trying to pull them out of coat, so thick

Having got one caught halfway down throat
Poor thing is now trying to bring up the choke
Hope she'll be alright, but don't know whether
She will be - as now she looks bluer than ever ...

- Tristram
