All of a sudden - it became a really busy road

As cars came bustling by, and lights showed
Great rifts in the paving caused by extremes
Of temperatures from ice cold to warm steam

Arising from a road normally white at this time
Covered with mountains of snow which'd climbed
Up upon the edges into banks by the snow plows
In times past when mid-winter temperatures below

Freezing at this January-February point in the year
Chilled us to the very bone and brought on tears
As icicles formed under nose and at eye corners
And now ... we have only rain and nothing more
