Many of us become maligned in ways not at all warranted

For people tend to stereotype us based on things unwanted
In others who they see and then tend to just characterize
Instead of getting down to brass tacks - they'd be surprised

To learn there are many very fine qualities in others about
If only they would pull back the covers to let them come out
And thus provide a platform for their personalities to shine
Something which would come easily, if we weren't so blind

And so - did broadly open up our arms, hands, hearts and minds
To those we have heretofore misunderstood and thus maligned
Just because we did not take the time to talk and comprehend
Something which'd happen, if we did, and cause things to mend.
