Savoring the Gas

Ran into a new neighbor just this afternoon
Who had bought the prettiest house on the lagoon
A wood and brick affair with dark maroon window trim
And a lovely deck all the way around the east rim

They'd moved in just two days after the other left
And've now become stove-less as they're gas-bereft
Apparently, the tank was turned off and then sealed
Prohibiting the new owner from making daily meals

A call to the gas company provided no joy at all
For policy dictates new customers need be installed
Meaning they have to go into the office on a weekday
With paperwork to prove residency and a way to pay

So the new neighbor is now limited to micro-waving
Because the local gas company is now misbehaving
Establishing policy in the face of need and their lack
Making one want to boycott the blighters ...
just to serve them back!
