The southernmost point in the western hemisphere

Is a place known as Cape Horn, but never fear

This one is neither about geography nor history

Nor the Falkland Islands, nor Argentina's mysteries



This one is about a gracious lady named Lena

Who's had quite a life, but none could be cleaner

For, altho she faced all the obstacles of her race

Lena Horne has come through it all with grace ...



Having recorded a whole mess of songs 

And made about two dozen films strong

Including her role in director Sidney Lumet's The Wiz

Who was married to her daughter, Gail Jones - family biz



And who also cast her granddaughter, Jenny ...

In Q & A ... why wouldn't her Dad be that friendly?

But the career Lena's had through the years

Has kept her on top and without any tears ...



So we thank her for her contributions

A consummate artist, with solutions

For not only music, but also stature ...

A wonderful lady ... with certain rapture
