A National Disgrace?

On this very date in nineteen fifty-one
A television situation comedy was begun
called Amos 'N' Andy - and starring blacks
A rather pleasant show, which some attacked

For Amos and Andy and their pal, Kingfish, too
Were created as stereotypes of a people, who ...
Had been trying to get away from that vision
But, the show really accomplished its mission

By showing folks we all have the same concerns
Regardless of color, and so, in that sense, it earned
A certain distinction for both itself and for those it embodied
Reminding us we're all equal under the skin, and that ain't shoddy!!!
