The Sholes and Soul of Computing

On this very day in eighteen hundred sixty-eight
Christopher Latham Sholes received a patent great
It was for a new machine he'd designed and developed
Something he called - the typewriter ... which we all envelop

Every day we place our fingers on this keyboard
As we proceed to pound on it in our own accord
And so we must thank Christopher Latham Sholes
For creating the instrument, which'll never get old
