The Blonde Goddess

It was a day like any other day ... nothing unusual to depict
But a child was born on this date in nineteen twenty six
Who would directly affect quite a few lives
But who'd also - an entire generation - drive

Her name was Norma Jeane Mortenson
Who'd later be better known and seen
As Marilyn Monroe - the blonde bombshell
The gal who had it all, and then ... just fell

After celebrated marriages to DiMaggio and Miller
She would, eventually, dissolve them both, in a tither
For the self-defined "superstructure without a foundation"
Had problems connecting well with the rest of the nation

Even though she was loved from afar
She couldn't get it into, or out of her jar
And so, some thirty-six years later, she'd overdose
In a scenario some have described as morose

After an incredible film career (of thirty over fifteen years)
The gal with The Seven Year Itch would rediscover fears
And, altho, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Some Like It Hot
Marilyn Monroe ... decided ... she would just rather not ....
