Indy's First

On this very date in nineteen hundred and eleven
The Indianapolis auto race was won by Ray Harroun
Before it would become known as the Five Hundred
(The lap count for times around the track, numbered)

Now won by many, many racers through the years
And some of them seem to know absolutely no fear
But automobile racing is extremely dangerous, indeed
Especially when done at such enormously high speed
