Solo Embarkations

On this day, five years apart
Two great fliers made their mark
Going down in pages of history
But each was a different story

In nineteen hundred twenty-seven
Lindbergh scaled into the heavens
Piloting the Spirit of St. Louis ...
Flying it from New York to Paris

And then, later, Amelia Earhart took off
From Newfoundland (as some scoffed)
Heading for Ireland, across the sea ...
The first woman to fly it solo, she'd be ...
