Faster Than A Speeding Bullet

Not much in life genuinely propels
Other than when we are under a spell
Whether it's caused by love or true ambition
... These are really the only two conditions

To make us go well beyond our lines drawn
The ones surrounding our very own lawns
For we feel a certain safety within them ...
And to go beyond, there must be real pulling

... Something driving us to reach out there
Something beyond just good looks or fair
It has to be something we really feel we need
Something we want or desire, upon which to feed

And when we find this - to our heart's content
Then even bullets fired straight - become bent
... Compared to this urgency which pushes us on
For it's deep within us, and thus ... becomes our song

- Tristram
