It's one of those things you cannot foresee ...

When exchanges become tangled and unfree
And no matter what you try and do to sort it out ...
You wind up getting deeper into what it's not about

And so you spend quite a bit of time rereading it all ...
Trying to figure out how you both became such fools
And then you see certain wording clearly indicating
The much bigger misunderstanding in the making ...

And so you contemplate editing and highlighting
But resist the urge for it would seem like fighting
And so then you send it all on just as it happened
With a cover note indicating one had been napping

And quietly suggesting an apology would be apt
Knowing further disagreement would really tap
Energies you no longer want to use in this way
For many other elements make you want to stay

So you take a very much needed rest after it all
Finally giving in to those teardrops in a waterfall
Even tho you're feeling you gave it your best shot
Now all you need do is let it be ... but you cannot

And as soon as you connect once more - all's fine
As the letter worked well ... better than the last time
And then you realize everything is fully resolvable
As long as the desire exists and you're consolable
