Society's Parts

Society's many parts make up its whole
So many various slices, so many souls
All trading services, products and support
Sliding them in and out of all of their ports

And where there are all of these elements
They become firmer fixtures in the cement
Building their foundations upon solid ground
Existing ... staying ... so they can be found

But one element of society is not quite in line
It is those souls who create art ... some so fine
These artisans have no real service they can trade
All they can do is show their work, hoping to be paid

Whether they are or not is up to the other parts ...
(The rest of society who may not welcome the art)
Some just abide it, and walk in other directions
Not wanting to take part in it, for their conventions ...

Deny them the acceptance of art's bonafide existence
And so they belittle it and shun the artists ... insistent ...
There is nothing they can do to include them in the whole
And yet ... they think nothing of "borrowing" from these souls
