The winter-time has now arrived

As the autumnal equinox jived

And now the days will lengthen

As weather changes the tension



And now focus will be on staying warm

Under extra throws and clothes we don

As chills creep in along our window-sills

And cold winds slow our walks to a standstill



As boots, gloves, scarves, sweaters and hats

Might lessen the bone-chills some, but that ...

Is a drop in the bucket compared to the slide

Some will feel as they come down from their high
