It's a shame the way wit is perceived

To some it is the very worst of deeds
To others, it is a class act to observe
And these folks enjoy it with all verve

But there are some who are repulsed
For the wit is missed, and their pulse
Runs so fast, they see not the humor
Then they start up their nasty rumors

And the two poles are like magnets
Turned around the other way to repel
And then the witticisms are cut dry ...
For there is nowhere else at all to lie

So wit then becomes a lost exercise
Absorbed ... but lost in another guise
One can only hope the ones who enjoy
Will overshadow those little girls and boys
