Past December precipitations

In this northeast corner of the American nation
Have mixed the cold and rain to form a slush ...
But today, even tho' cold ... it isn't very much

Today ... the temperature has dropped
From spring-like conditions as we shopped
Making it difficult to get into the Christmas spirit
For seventy-degree temperatures slowed a bit ...

Now the cold has come upon us overnight ...
In a way ... making things seem quite bright
For we here in the north-east are conditioned
To become joyful when weather-seasoned

And even though it's now dark and dreary ...
Somehow, the season's spirit is clearly
Upon us ... as folks bundle up in their winter coats
No more are shirt-sleeved kids out rowing in boats

Instead they're inside staying warm and dry ...
As parents prepare for the holidays, and fly
About in their cars, involved deep in thought
Trying to remember all the things they bought

And attempting to budget what little there is left
As they balance all of their family's needs in their heads
Remembering little of past December's precipitations
In this north-eastern corner of this great American nation ....
