The Wetness of Being

When we love intensely, we become saturated
Not only with feelings, but as we become sated
We share in the fullness of our very beings
Become so immersed, we're no longer seeing

The swamp we create of our lives on both edges
Becomes filled with creatures creeping on ledges
Under the water, immersed and entangled in vines
And on the top surface - only we have been blind

So involved in feelings of intimacy and purity
Sometimes we see not the fullness of surety
For illness and pain blind our insecurities
But when they subside, we're imbued with the

Richness which overflows from our hearts
And vow we are ready to make a new start
At loving with the completeness well within
Which we share lovingly even when thinned

But it is the creatures which sit on leaves
Which some ignore - who don't please
Who sometimes interfere with passion
And make us giddy - as we trash them

Banish them from our bodies and minds
As they wear upon us, and change the kind
Face which we wish to show to everyone
But especially those who have before done

Things to us to enrich our bodies and souls
In time past, before we screamed with cold
Which ripped through our very warm being
And changed the goodness to a disagreeing

Of mindset - which is not really our thing
But because of the creature, we felt a sting
And dwelled on it, instead of putting it behind
Thence to go on to other things and a free mind
