Preparations are now on the way

For the big feast on this next day

When some of us folks will be cooking

Whilst others spend their time looking



The day when we celebrate and give thanks

For all of the goodness in our lives which rank

Up there - almost - with the miracle of birth

Without which, we could not be here on earth



Regardless of the pains and problems we face

We need to thank God for whatever space ...

We have on this earth, sharing it with others

Our spouses, our parents, sisters and brothers



Along with our friends and all of our pets

(Those we've selected to be our best bets)

For everybody on earth has just a few of these

We need give thanks to them without tease



And so we have this one day a year set aside

For us to be grateful to them and show our pride

Just to have them around us ... to say the least

On this day coming up - the one of the great feast
